Interpret Durban

Gig-of-all-trades Interpret Durban had a good few hundred people jostling under an amphitheater of dangling faerie lights and sheet ribbon this past weekend. With short films, art, photography and fashion on exhibition, and a score of bands thrown in for phonetic flavour, there was something for almost all of Durban's diversities. Durban Is Yours Too

Busy day! Thanks to Stathi Kougianos, I got a cool mention on the local zeitgeist blog, Durban Is Yours. Check it out!

Follow Your Art

The Collective is an apt name for the Durban hosts of Follow Your Art, a collaborative street, skate, installation, comic, and graffiti art exhibition that gathered pieces from around fifty artists. The ambiance was supplied by a few bands on the balcony, and the jostling it took to get these photos testifies to the event's popular support. Get to the bottom of Florida road to make sure you see the bigger picture; it's well worth it.

Inscape Album Launch: Isochronous in a Tropical Durban

Saturday night saw a jet-lagged Isochronous guitar-bang across a two-by-four stage in Durban's urban-fringe sanctuary, Unit 11. Having garnered a genuine throng of ever-faithful admirers (fandom is an ill-fitting mantle), it's always a pleasure to watch the friendly rapport between the prog-rockers and their crowd. The mood was established by new old kids on the block Gangs of Ballet, yellow-flecked definite articles The La Els, and Cape Town feel-goods, The Plastics. Isochronous's new album, Inscape, is finally out. If you love atmospheric synth-rock with mellifluous vocals and a kick-drum you can feel hit your throat, get a hold of it at their next show. Enjoy the light-swathed shots of the gig.
